how long for CPS to decide to charge or not?

hello,
ex was arrested last December. had an update, they found nothing on his devices. no horrible photos, no chats, no app they said he had been communicating on. they took him off the IRSO they had in place for him but are still asking for CPS advice to charge him or not
i don't understand. the solicitor said that the IP address was "dodgy" and looked to be faked or something.
struggling but hoping it will all be over soon. we have 2 kids together and my biggest fear was having to tell them why their dad wasn't involved in their life for some sordid reason, and i just don't want to have to do that. that's all i care about to be honest
does anyone have any experience on how long this could take
thank you

I believe once the police have provided everything to CPS the decision should come back in 2 or 3 months. Good luck. It doesn't sound like they have much, if anything, to waste the courts time with.
My ex's case (small number of deleted images) is on 6 months+. CPS can take as long as they like basically. His solicitor said the average is 3-4 months though.
Ours was 5 months from interview to cos decision
In my ex husbands case it took 2.5years from first interview and the CPS deciding to take no further action. The waiting game was hell.
