Can you ask solicitor to contact police to find out the charge?

I don't think my OH's solicitor knew exactly what he was being charged with but as she had been there for the 2nd interview I assume she had a fairly good idea.

So your solicitor cant legally tell you if I remember rightly. Only the police will be able to tell you what he is charged with.

You should have an idea of what they'll be charged with from the evidence found on their devise/s. Each charged will be individually set out . For example if they had c and b images on their phone there will be two charges of possession.

Our son heard what the charges were from his solicitor who had been emailed them by the police. The solicitor then emailed them to our son so they obviously knew what they were. I don't think our son had any contact with the police at that point as it was all done via the solicitor but that doesn't match what others have posted so I'm a bit unsure what's what. The police said they had put the charges in the post to our son with his plea date and he is still waiting for that to arrive and the solicitor had to chase it up to find out the date so our son didn't miss it. His plea hearing was 8 days later which seems a very short time lapse and we wonder if the police had the charges back from CPS and the plea date, and had just not got around to sending it all to our son - or whether, as they claimed, they had to wait for the court to send the plea date. Whatever it was, the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing!!!
