Dear Forum Users,

We’re pleased to support the research outlined below and invite you to take part. Your input is invaluable in helping us better understand and improve support for individuals and families affected by these issues.

My name is Caroline Webster. I am a forensic psychologist, accredited EMDR trauma therapist and a PhD researcher embedded into the charity Talking Forward. This charity offers peer support for Partners, Relatives and/or Ex's (PRE's) who have experienced the knock* and subsequent investigation (and post closure) because of their PRE accessing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) online. I have over 20 years working in the field of sexual offending, working with both the men who have committed the crime and offering support to their PRE's.

My PhD is entitled “Exploring the impact a therapeutic intervention has on PRE's ability to process the ‘The Knock’”. The focus is on understanding what support you as a PRE have been able to access and how helpful it has been. This will help inform future research phases in which I envisage a trauma focussed therapeutic intervention will be offered and the impact of this on psychological, emotional and physical health will be evaluated. All of the research phases are explained further within the first section of the attached questionnaire (phase 1 of 4). If I can gather as much detail from you all within this community about your experiences, it will really help to illustrate the scale of the current issue. I thank you in advance for your help with this

A questionnaire exploring the support offered to Partners, Relative and/or Exe's at the time of The Knock.

Thank you for posting this survey on the forum. If I may offer some feedback on the survey it would be to include a question around the type of therapies people have sought and found helpful with private therapists. In my opinion this would be beneficial to know when looking at offering therapies post knock xxx
