Does anyone know approximately how long you have to wait until yoi can visit your person? Mine is going for sentencing next Monday and will be serving a short sentence. He will be brought to the jail straight from sentencing. How long before I am able to visit?
They are entitled to receive a first visit within 72 hours of being convicted. But first you need to know which prison they are in and their prisoner number.
They should be able to make a phone call within 72 hours and give you that information. Bear in mind that if they are sentenced on a Friday, nothing may happen until the following Monday. Then you need to check what that prisons rules are, because each one is different. Some allow you to book visits by email, others you will have to phone up.
