Dear Forum users,

When someone in the family is arrested for their online sexual behaviour, it can have a deep impact on everyone’s mental health—not just the adults, but young people too. Young people may feel confused and worried, struggling to make sense of what’s happened and how to cope. To help with this, we’ve created a new set of resources designed especially for young people navigating this difficult time. If this is something your family is going through, we hope these tools can offer comfort and practical help. This includes:

- A short animation that tells the story of a young person whose dad was arrested, and how she navigated her way through that difficult time. The story aims to offer hope to others.

- A young person’s workbook filled with creative activities, coping strategies, and space for reflection. It was co-written by the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and a young person with lived experience, sharing the skills and perspectives she learned from Shore, our online space for teenagers worried about sexual behaviours

- A parent guide to help caregivers support their children with empathy, honesty, and reassurance during this difficult time.

These resources were developed with input from professionals and families who’ve been through this themselves. They’re here to help reduce stigma, build resilience, and encourage open conversations. If a young person in your family is feeling confused, unsure who to talk to, or just needs help making sense of their emotions, these tools can be a gentle starting point.

Any feedback on the new resources would be greatly appreciated to help us make sure it is as valuable as possible for those it has been created for.

This project was funded through the Ideas for Change Fund, which is funded by David Graham of Changing Ideas and managed by Inspiring Scotland.

Kind regards,

The Forum Team
