We are all only a couple of clicks away from viewing IIOC apparently and that's scary. I wish I could scream from the rooftops that if you unintentionally open, download, accidentally view an image of a child then delete it, delete the app, report it to the app that none of that matters!! A crime has still been committed and you will have to go through this awful process. People are so oblivious that this could come into their lives. And judgemental of others it effects. People assume that anyone involved in something like this is a p-word. After all of this, one of the very few people I trust with my children is my OH, I want them with us all the time so I know they are safe.

It is a somewhat misleading statement, that emerged many years ago, that we are all somehow just a few clicks from iioc.

If you are looking for iioc, then you can find it with just a few clicks. That is what the statement really means. It does not mean that anyone who is not looking for iioc will stumble across it completely by accident, in their normal internet browsing.

The apps that make this process far more likely, such as kik, are set up in a way that permits unfiltered spamming. It means a kik user will be bombarded by unknown people sending them links to stuff that they have not asked for.

But if you are not on on kik, then you are not being sent any links to iioc. Most email accounts now have spam filters that weed out dodgy emails as well. The pop up ads containing links to iioc that some people mention, are only found on porn sites, not on everyday websites. As for social media, you would have to look for these images first, in order to get them picked up by the algorithim, which might then recommend you more. But if you are not looking for iioc, there is no reason for the algorithm to send you links to iioc.

When it comes to reporting, the internet watch foundation has a page where you can report things anonymously, with no police involvement. But if someone informs the police themselves, or if an app like snapchat identifies that an illegal image has been uploaded and informs the police, then the police will become involved and they will do further investigations to see if it was really an accident or not.
