It's almost a week since we got the phone call saying our son had been arrested. We have not told anyone so its just me, son's dad and son's girlfriend who know. I cannot tell anyone in my family for fear of their reactions. How on earth do you get through any of this? Solicitor has said it will probably be 18 months to 2 years before court. Words cannot express how I feel and I guess everyone on this forum knows what I mean. This has to be the most isolating experience for us (and our son). Terrifying.
I feel for you, Trish. It is a shocking thing to be thrust upon us and affects so many areas of life. The shock will soften but it takes a few weeks. In time you will probably feel like telling some trusted people, and its better they hear it from you than some other source, but only you will know who to tell, and when. No rush, for now. First u have to look after yourself as you get through this initial phase.
