My son had court today thank God that is over with now the dreaded wait to see if makes the media!. I just feel numb I'm so relieved its over but yh i just feel numb at the minute.

As anyone else's made the media and what was the time scale as to when it went in his solicitor said if was gonna go in would more then likely be straight away today she said there was no press present tho so she dont think it will (fingers crossed) .

Supporting someone you care about through a court hearing can be incredibly difficult. It takes a toll in ways you don’t always expect. In my own experience, the numbness and emotional flatness didn’t lift right away — it took a few weeks before those feelings slowly began to ease.

My son's case appeared in the media the same day as court which added another layer of shock and heaviness to an already overwhelming situation.

I wish you both all the best and really hope you manage to escape the media.

The local news will often use court listings to find details, so they do not need to be in the courtroom. Usually they report it within 48 hours.

We chose not to look for any media reporting as we couldn't see how it could help us move on with our lives. But a friend made a comment about our son's sentencing which she said she 'read in the court report' which we assume was online.

There was no media in court for the sentencing itself so we assume the info was taken from the court records printed somewhere a day or two afterwards.

I studiously avoided anywhere I might see it accidentally - maybe a bit OTT but we are happy to live in ignorance, for the time being anyway. So far nobody has contacted us about seeing it so long may that last.

I hope your son avoids media attention and you can all move forward with your lives. 10 years on the SOR does seem very harsh with him being so young. Sending big virtual hugs to you both.

What a relief sentence for you, so glad the sentence is manageable (apart from SOR) and he can move forward now. Fingers crossed no publicity! X
