My person is the 2nd person in my life to be caught for this kind of offending. In his live on facebook he atrributed the behaviour to feeling low. My ex also said the same thing.

Does anyone have any insight on why "feeling low" seems to be a precursor to this? I have severe PTSD and depression and I've never felt the need to SO. I guess I have found myself the victim of SA instead.

Some people escape from their problems with drink or drugs, some use comfort eating for example. But everybody will have something they turn to as a coping mechanism, because it has worked for them before.

With internet offending, I think it is the escape into a fantasy world that appeals. They do not view it as real life and do not really see the harms they cause, because they are at a distance from it.

Often it will start with legal porn and escalate from there, in the same way that an occasional drink sometimes becomes full blown alcoholism.

Hi lovely. I feel for you as I find myself in a similar position. My son was arrested last weekend following a vigilante sting. It was live streamed on Facebook. I'm sure he now feels more isolated than ever. I absolutely do not condone his offence, but feel so sorry for him because he feels like everyone is looking at him. I'm worried incase he self harms.

I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you as I'm totally new to this myself and still in shock. He's such a quiet inoffensive lad and I don't think he knows himself why he did it. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that your definitely not on your own even though it feels that way doesn't it. But I do think having others that are going through this to talk to helps immensely.

Sending hugs x Message me if you want to x
