I'm joing the forum because my husband is now out of prison. We've stayed together throughout the whole thing; he was arrested in 2021 and convicted in 2023. I'm finding his release pretty challenging, because I've got used to life on my own. He continues to live separately from us as my daughter is 15.

I just wanted to touch base with others who have chosen to stick with their partners. How have you found it? There are a lot of issues; rebuilding trust, shame, secrecy, social services, probation etc. I am keen to hear of any successes you might have had in moving on.

My husband got 20 months in prison and is currently out on licence for another 20 months. The prison bit did go pretty fast, but we had to travel a long way to see him and had to stay overnight in a hotel each time. His welfare got better once he was moved on from the local prison to one further away. Sorry to hear it's not been good for you and your man so far, hopefully it will get better. I found the first prison visit pretty harrowing, but it gets easier.
