So the 3 year suspended sentence increased from 2 is coming into effect next week or week after , do you think more suspended sentences will be applied to these crimes Evan for serious distribution of images ? Just interested in people's thoughts
The judges have not really been following the sentencing guidelines for images, for quite a few years now. The numbers involved mean it is almost impossible to send them all to prison, so suspended sentences have become the norm.
Communication cases are more borderline, but once again the numbers have increased so much in recent years, thanks to widespread use of decoys, that suspended sentences appear to be the norm as well. Again it is all about the huge numbers and lack of prison places.

Yes that's correct, I see Evan more for distribution of category A images getting suspended sentences.
As others have said prisons right now are full. Unless youre seen as a massive risk to society theyll give you a chance via suspended sentence. It will mean that rather then 2 years theyll give 3 years suspendended.
