Unhelpful media coverage of LFF campaign

Really disappointed to see some of the news coverage of the LFF media engagement around the increasing numbers coming into the charity for support. The independent article felt like really lazy journalism and can see LFF was trying to raise awareness of the broad range of people being sucked into this kind of offending but didn't succeed in raising awareness of why and the toxic combination of algorithms and the dopamine effect, addiction, poor mental health/ loneliness/ neurodivergence etc. The brutal way in which huge numbers of, particularly, young men are being dealt with in this tsunami has to be recognised and talked about without castigating everyone with the P word or else we'll never move into the preventative space of raising awareness of what's going on and the risks to stop it happening in the first place, let alone addressing the huge shortfalls in the legal system particularly for those just turned 18 who are being pushed through a justice system that's not suitable and without any support for the huge impact being arrested/ investigated is having on their lives. The effects of which are lifelong for them at such a vulnerable time and age. Surely we can do more together to foster healthy debate rather than journalism that perpetuates the misconceptions. I would share our story anonymously if it helped! I despair at where this will lead us individually and as a society if we don't do more.
I havent seen the news coverage but agree with everything you've said. Thank you.
There is TV docu drama coming shortly, that features Martin Clunes as Huw Edwards.
Strange casting, but it will be interesting to see how that is received. As far as I can tell, it focuses on the grooming and communication aspects of his case, for which he was never charged with any offence, rather than the images, which he was charged for.
