Hi everyone

So, we have our sons plea hearing on Wednesday, all very anxious and high emotions at the moment, currently getting together paperwork and character references.

Were also aware that it may be out there for all to know from Wednesday onwards, currently nobody knows, and we have just been putting up a front for friends and family, so we are dreading having to tell them the truth of what we have been going through.

Weve put up cameras this weekend and should hopefully have someone come to put up a new fence and gate and the end of the week, for the front of the house, so we're feeling a bit more secure.

We spoke to the solicitor finally last week, and they said as our son is pleading guilty, it should be straightforward on Wednesday, we've all never been inside a courtroom before, so don't fully know what to expect.

thanks for listening

What a rollercoaster of emotions you must be on right now.

Hopefully someone will be able to post what to expect on Wednesday who has been to a plea hearing. I wonder if it's a court room as you seen on TV or more of a meeting type room?. Did you stick with the duty solicitor in the end?.

Has the solicitor got any reports as such or will that come after the plea hearing to help with mitigation.

Will be thinking of you on Wednesday a situation we could all be in at some point soon so can only imagine what you are going through right now.

Just wanted to wish you luck for Wednesday. OH had his last month so it is fresh in my mind. Top tip, take as little as possible as you'll have to empty your bags and be subjected to a search on the way in.

I sat at the back of the court and watched. It was pretty heartbreaking and OH had to sign SOR within 3 days of the guilty plea. It was all over quite quickly. Solicitor said goodbye and we were left to have a chat with Probation before we could leave the court.

We had no press present fortunately and I'm not aware that anything was in the press although the court appearance was listed in the court listings online if anyone kept an eye on them. So far no fall out. Not sure if the same will apply at sentencing next month.

All the best x

Be thinking of you. We went to court to try and change the conditions (unsuccessfully) and it wasn't a very nice experience, bit of an eye opener seeing the nature and feel of it. And it was a relatively straight forward process for us. Sounds like plea hearings are similarly straight forward. Sentencing will be the really tough one I imagine where the outcome is less known. How old is your son? And how long as it taken to get to this point? We're 4 months in with mine, who's 18. Best of luck this week x

Thanks everyone.

SHFJ - Our son is 23, and on the autistic spectrum, we have been lucky in the sense that it has gone quickly (arrested June 2025, so 9 months) we think it was pushed through a bit quicker by the officer in charge, as our son tried to take his own life a few days after arrest, also not sure if it's just the area we live in (West Midlands).

Oh bless him, that's so hard. Feel for them so young. Glad it's not been longer (though 9 months is long enough) and Wed is a major, if daunting, step forward in getting through this awful process. My son isn't diagnosed but am convinced he has adhd and Tourette's, possibly autism as well, and some learning challenges that are likely dyslexia but again not diagnosed despite pushing for 4 years. All major factors along this path I believe. Will be thinking of you Wednesday and hope he's ok x

Court is the strangest experience ever i sat in a daze seeing the attitude of some people obviously regulars at court no respect, yet here we were sitting first time in court scared stiff and the others feel the right to judge because of the nature of the crime, the judge gave very little details in my oh case except of course the fact it was illoc images which allowed everyone's imagination to run riot, one person gave me some verbal abuse that day, I see her often now, she has obviously forgotten as not another thing said to me yet I see her and her partners name in court roll often. I hope.everything goes as smooth as possible, puting cameras and fence up leaves you in control I know I was glad.of my safe space for a while, we had media attention one night of keyboard warriors nothing at all to the house or anything
