TV program about Huw Edward

Hi
i read an article on bbc about a program being aired about Huw Edwards being portrayed by Martin Clunes on Chanel 5, and thought there would be a good opportunity for a support link but I've noticed that the article didn't provide one.
A number of parents watched the Jimmy Savile documentary as well as potential offenders needing support would have benefited from an awareness saying tha help is there - even for the offenders - as a lot of continual offences take place due to shame, addiction, unawareness, and neurodivergence.
i know if we had been aware of stop it now then a lot of offenders may not be in the current position
Even when panorama does documentaries about decoys or the police units they never show any support activities that are preventing this - like yourselves

Hi Anxious Dad
I hate these sort of programmes/documetaries/news articles being published and do ask myself why do they do it and for what purpose?
I know Huw Edwards is a high profile offender but why does this programme need to be aired other than to incite deeper hatred of SO's? No thought had been given to his family who may suffer further as a result of this, I do find this extremely triggering and wound agree with you, about signposts to support not only from victims but families of offenders and existing and potential offenders.
Thank you for raising this extremely important issue in particular to the majority of users on this site who may find this programme not only triggering but extremely harmful.
Best wishes Katie x

Yes and I do see your point although I probably didn't consider it at the time of writing the post (as I am neurodivergent I often don't realise certain things)
But my point is there will be the type of audience that will have just watched a drama from a single angle. We never get a drama from the other angle about what the families go through, or even a documentary on how the offender ends up being an offender, the improvements that can be made to prevent this etc
Society normalises things in music, TV drama, games and films. The effect on the neurological mind is very subliminal and then they dramatise events where something has happened, with no balance.
my original post was more to highlight a signposting opportunity because there will be some people not realising help is out there before and after a life changing event

It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when you’re trying to navigate such a difficult situation. Taking that first step to reach out for support is often the hardest part, so go easy on yourself while you figure out the next move.
One thing that might help is looking into some of the guided resources or helplines specifically for families; they can offer a confidential space to talk through your concerns without judgment. Sometimes just having a structured way to process everything can make the path forward feel a little clearer. You aren't alone in this, and there are people who truly understand what you're going through.
