So it's been 6 weeks since the knock. OH (now ex) out on bail and only had one supervised visit with our chidren. WE said we were being released from section47 but I've not heard a thing about moving forward for more supervised visits etc.

I've been told forensics should be back within 16 weeks and charging / cps within 6 months but reading through the forum many of you talk about it taking years. Is this the same all over it just certain areas?

Also my eldest will be 16 in August will the supervised visit stop then or is that until they are 18?

Thank you

I'm sorry, but that timeframe is incredibly improbable anywhere in the UK. My ex was told similar and forensics actually took 18 months! 12-18 months for forensics is the norm, then several more months for CPS.

Thanks for getting back to me. It's awful to know we will be in this limbo for months and months being realistic

Ours was about 5 months til forensics, then another two til charged, then another two til plea hearing, and another two til sentencing. So 11 months from knock to sentencing.

Almost two years for my OH. Plea hearing was a few weeks ago. Sentencing will probably be late April which will take it to two years mark. It's honestly crazy how long these take!

Just reading these and seeing the different time scales has just scrambled my brain slightly! I separated from my husband after the knock the thought of living with him at the moment makes me uneasy. Obviously we're in this limbo until we hear from the police and in my mind their decision is what will decide the fate of our marriage. Just not sure how it looks if it's going to take as long as a lot of have stated??

We had the knock September 15th 2025, forensics come back January 28th 2026 & file sent to CPS on 4th March. So unlike many ours is moving pretty fast, I hope its the same for you.

Can I ask what's probably a silly question but I'm absolutely blown away and only a month in to this - since he was reported - but does the category of forensics find speed up the process at all ? As in if the hit cat A find straight away will it almost go to the top - apologies for my naiveness

Broken Panda - I don't think it matters on that. As there are some Cat A images here but we've been waiting over a year.
