Hi there I'm very new to this world I tell you that. Basically my partner got a new phone and it kept beeping so I went to check it he gave me his passcode so I assumed he would be fine with this. Anyway I opened his phone and seen he had been messaging other girls just throwaway comments like sexy on Snapchat. It upset me and I started to look some more I went on his photo gallery to find photos with girls etc.. my mind went into overdrive.
anyway I come across 2, 5 second videos in his gallery showing beastiality and a possible cp scenario I have no idea I didn't click on it. My mind exploded at what I had witnessed so in a frantic state I called police to report what I saw.. I gave my statement under duress as I was being recorded. Police then took days to arrest my partner I asked my partner what the videos were and he had no idea what I was talking about I mentioned the material contained and he told me someone had messaged him on Kik after talking on Snapchat telling him to join Kik this was before we were together he followed her to Kik and she sent him these videos they auto saved on his phone and he had no idea that was what happened. Once he was sent the videos he then reported the user to Kik and was told thanks for reporting
once he filed the report he then deleted Kik off his phone and that was the end of it. He had no idea Kik had made a folder on his phone with these sick videos inside it.
police have now seized his devices and he was interviewed he has been released with a caution while forensics check his phones.
police have said if anything is found he will be arrested and charged they have also told social work so now social work are involved with my life with our son who is a 2 month old baby. This whole thing has been a massive misunderstanding and mistake my partner had no idea these videos were on his phone and he's terrified of what will happen next he's refusing to go to work in case he's arrested there. He's terrified to leave his home incase police search and destroy his home again. He is a broken man all because of an app auto saving videos this is truly unfair. I love him and I believe him
my question is what happens next.. in regards to my son both families don't know yet we are trying to keep it quiet as we don't want to worry them and we don't want them to split us up. The whole situation feels so devastating and I can't see a way forward I hope and pray everyday that police say nothing was found on his phone but at the end of the day the stuff was there but he had no idea it was there. Could 2 videos 5 seconds each destroy both of our lives 2 videos that auto saved to his phone in 2023 the whole situation just feels so unfair
please any help or support or advice would be so appreciated we don't even know if he's allowed to have another phone as it stands he's lost his Xbox and phones and has no means of entertainment or any way of contacting family so they are terrified that he's dead as he can't reach out to them. If all they find were those 2 videos they may decide to take no action. Unfortunately, it will be months before the phone checking is complete.
In the meantime, unless he has bail restrictions, he can buy another phone and carry on with life. The police are fairly unlikely to arrest him again. If they do make contact it will probably be to request a "voluntary interview" at the police station. Not really voluntary, because you have to go, but that is when he would find out the next stage of the process.

Thank you for your reply any advice is so appreciated. He no longer has a life he's refusing to go back to work incase he's arrested there and I understand his fears especially as he has friends at work. They have already visited his home checking he is okay. Both families know and are livid at me my family included they are outraged how I would report it without asking where it came from first.. I just panicked the person who needs to be arrested is the sick woman who decided to send him these videos.. not the innocent man who opened a message and had videos saved to his phone without him even knowing.. what you said gives me hope thank you. He's thinking all sorts that he will be held in custody, going to prison, etc.. I've tried to calm him down but he's an absolute shell of the man I fell in love with. Police are being cagey about phones when I asked they said he can have a phone but they advise against it.. so he's to sit with no means of contacting his family for a year because police said they don't advise it while saying he can get a new phone.. it's very unfair

He could get a non-smart phone. We got one for my person a few days after his smart phone was siezed. Police can't object to that.

All I will say is until forensics have done their investigation you haven't got the facts. All you have is what he's telling you. Facts and whats being said by him could differ so please prepare yourself. From a mum to a mum put yourself and your child first always. I really hope you have some peace at the end of this. Yes it's the uncertainty about everything we are trying to move on and I'm standing by him as I truly believe what he's telling me is correct when you google it it does say videos are auto-saved to phones that's my hope that I'm holding onto. Also I've spoke to a lawyer who has dealt with kik cases before and he confirmed my partner is telling the truth about autosave it's caused many problems for his clients he said he got someone off with the same issue on WhatsApp so I'm staying hopeful.

If kik ceased to exist tomorrow, men who want an anonymous poorly regulated place to act out sexually (whether legally or illegally) would just move on somewhere else.
Bank + credit card statements are definitely worth a look if he's messaging women sexually online + has had illegal content (whatever his version of events) + has been on kik (its popular with cam girls / sex workers), because taken together that honestly...isn't great. But your mileage may vary as the saying goes.
