Is anyone really innocent and could this be a big mistake?

I'm new here, we are 3 months in, my oh was arrested and bailed with conditions not to return home until his phone has been examined, he is currently living in his vehicle. He has admitted to paying for a file but is adamant he was downloading porn not CP!. When he opened this file he realised what it was and deleted it straight away, and has never opened it or restored the file etc etc.
He maintains this is all a mistake and has not ever searched for or downloaded CP. He is also confident his phone will not contain any images although two images were initially found during his interview.
Does his story sound believable, im so confused as I'd never thought someone like him would be into that kind of thing- its just not him, but I have to keep an open mind as im not naive enough to think I know someone inside out,
He's been suicidal but is adamant he will clear his name, we have a solicitor also to help. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Hi there! Sounds very similar to my story. Downloaded a file and it included IIOC, deleted them straightaway and never went back on it. Apprently. I can't say wether he was in there for that or not, I'd like to say he wasn't.
but what I do know is that he was on there for porn instead of going onto a legit porn site, downloaded a file expecting it to be porn and happily spoke to people (before opening the file) about people sharing this porn.
whilst I'm not sure what I believe about the IIOC, I do know that I feel like he's cheated on me as he wasn't open and honest about him watching porn almost everyday.
