We are updating the landing page – and would appreciate your thoughts!

We’re pleased to share that we’ve secured funding to update and refresh the forum landing page. This work will focus on improving the overall layout, modernising the look and feel, make it more accessible and easier to navigate, and better aligning it with the Stop It Now and Lucy Faithfull Foundation branding.
While there are some limits to what we can change, we really want this update to reflect what you find helpful. With that in mind, we’d love to hear your views.
This isn’t about the forum topic folders or discussion content, but about the visual appearance, functionality, and accessibility of the landing page.
If you’re happy to share, please reply to this post with any thoughts or suggestions, for example:
- What works well on the landing page already
- What could be improved or changed
- Anything that feels confusing, hard to find, or difficult to use
- Features or information you feel are missing
- Accessibility considerations that would make the page easier to use
All ideas are welcome – big or small – but please keep in mind that we are limited in what we can do due to the high level of security on our platform and the amount of funding we have available. Your feedback will help shape the improvements we make.
Thank you for being part of the forum and helping us make it work better for everyone.
Kind regards,
The Forum Team

That's great, congratulations. Some quick thoughts, and will give it more thought:
- ability to move through the folders without having to go back to the landing page would be helpful (either a menu within each folder that could click on different folders from, or a next folder tab)
- notifications when someone replies to your comment
- ability to tag each other in comments
- new posts/ comments alert on folders/ threads so don't have to scour through for updates/ new info

That's great news. Congratulations.
My initial thoughts are;
Notification of a new private message whithout being logged into the forum.
Notification of new posts without any comments.
An 'ask the community' option to seperate questions requiring specific answers rather than opinions and discussion
I'll keep thinking and will add any more thoughts i have.

Good news, that s great to hear!
I don't know if this is what you mean by landing page but agreeing with the other posters I think it would really help the forum experience in terms of user-friendlyness:
-to get a notification/ email when there s a direct message
-to have links on your account page to direct you to the chats you've posted in
(in the main discussion forum there are so many new topics that I often forget where I commented and will not see any ongoing discussion or questions from other users)
-to be able to reply to a post and not just comment on the general thread
-to add some hashtags/flags on the starting post: I read from some users that they feel triggered or upset by some discussion because they are on the other side of the experiences basically. Like victims of abuse will find it very upsetting to read discussion how life of offenders hould be made easier or family members of young offenders might find it hard to read that partners want to cut an offender from contact with their kids.

ah, one more on the reply to post function:
with the current layout you need to adress the users when you want to reply to their specific post. This is critical I think as it makes the forum searchable for these users. While if you searchfor a user name in the search function the original posts will not come up, the replies will. E.g. if "Annie123" posts someting, searching for her user name will not bring that post up but if "Mary" replies "Dear Annie123" - Mary's post will. Considering there are some offenders that try to stalk family members on this forum I think the suggested reply by "answer" function would improve this.

A more graphical user profile would be nice
Hi LFF,
For myself I'd really prefer the forum to be closed. There have been many posts over my time here that I wanted to reply to but I hold back often because I'm not comfortable with it being an open forum, not being sure who is reading, or even who is posting.
The recent post by someone who was in fact an offender really unnerved me and has made me even more reluctant to post...it wasn't so much the fact that the person was an offender, but rather that it showed a person had slipped through the LFF clearing process. I suppose I worry that press could be using the forum or the police. Yes this whole thing for me has made me rather paranoid but I think it is a reasonable fear, to worry about just anyone being able to read such very sensitive posts.
