My ex partners bail has just been extended again and the police said nfa is unlikely (vigilante sting so they have communication transcripts).

Our son starts school in September and I've already had to deal with the shame of nursery getting a call from social services- I don't want to flag this with the school.

By that time we will be divorced, I am conserving changing my sons surname and I will be the only one registered as a parent and doing anything with school. Can I do that? Or do I have to alert them even if dad is not involved?

The average headteacher/ designated safeguarding lead will have seen it all in their careers and will respond very professionally. I found both my sons' schools nothing but discreet and supportive. I would proactively engage with the school so they can give your son any support he might need.
