Hi, the Police have finally sent my Sons case file to the CPS after just over 2 years since his arrest. I always knew this would happen, but since finding out it has actually been sent I feel more nervous and down to the point I don't want to go to work I just want to stay in bed. How long have other people waited to get a reply from the CPS ? It is just more agonising waiting x

We're only at 6 months of bail and I am having a rubbish week of anxiety/ low mood about my son and the bail conditions/ restrictions, and can only imagine how I'll be feeling when the case moves on. Sending love and support and hope next stage is quick for you. The waiting drives us all mad! X

Sorry you find yourself here.

CPS seems very varied depending on where you are in the UK.

We are sat waiting for a decision from CPS since the end of Jan!. No idea apart from a huge backlog as to why it takes so long. I just want to know either way now. The waiting, the what if thinking of all the different scenarios doesn't do anyone any good.

Why on TV do they show it happen all so quickly that they make a decision to charge or not.

You have waiting a long time already. Hopefully you hear sooner rather than later

Was that something the office in charge gave you?. Have they said what happens next or is it playing the waiting game again?. As if 20 months wasn't long enough already....

They spoke to our solicitor and told him what they have found, not sure if this always happens, we haven't actually heard from the OIC since last September. I think now it gets passed to CPS no idea about timescales but I hope maybe we are all sorted by the end of the year? I'm not sure if I can go into another year of not knowing x

I hope you get your decision from CPS soon. I keep saying its like a sentence from the initial knock for all of us, not just the offender. I've completely isolated us from everyone in the vague hope of trying in some way to protect us from the backlash of the outside world but then you suffer because you have nobody but your own thoughts. Im so scared all the time. I just want to smile or feel happiness again x

Thanks for your feedback. I called the Solicitor and they chase the CPS once a month. My Son was on their list for this week, not that it will make any difference x

Hope you don't have to wait too much longer for a decision. If only they could give an indication on decision times. I've clearly watched too many police programs over the years as they make it look like a decision is made within a few days if not quicker. Is your son on bail?. How is he dealing with it?.

Complete agree with other that have said it effects the whole family. Life feels like it's on hold and have also distanced ourselves since the knock. I have put on a brave face and had a few nights out just to try and feel normal and to give myself a bit of space. Such a juggling act trying to keep things together. So need a holiday but feel like we can't until we know the outcome.

8 weeks after it was sent to CPS we got the letter for the plea hearing. I know it varies area to area. From second interview to final court hearing was 5 months (christmas and new year prolonged it or it would have been a bit quicker)

Hi Beach2000

My son was on bail, it was extended twice through the Magistrates Court now he is on RUI. It takes a huge toll on family members. I agree, we put on a front, i feel as though i am hiding such a big secret and i feel i am deceiving my company although it is not me who has comitted the crime. Take care x
