Unfortunately I've now been part of this forum since 2020, it's been a long time coming to get here... but still feel like we've got mountains to cross.

It's been a week since the 'next' worst day of our live.

Oh went to begin trial and go not guilty as always was the case. Accused of 'attempting to make indecent images'. No images or anything every found on any devices. Just a few links and that may or may not have been clicked on that may have contained indecent images/videos.

day trial was to begin, a new barrister on the prosecution side came in with, he's looked at the case with fresh eyes and there is evidence that one video of about 2mins was viewed on his device for SIX seconds!
he was advised to change his plea to guilty based on this, as it would be 'harder to defend him'

so trial didn't go in front of jury.

punishemnt.

5yr SOR & SHPO,

80hr community order

20hr rehabilitation

a few small fines to pay.

we could manage all of this.

Then, the media...

to say the least they've destroyed everything!!

they plastered his name, the fact he was once a teacher, they said he has downloaded a r*p* video of a child.

absolutely disgusted that the media are able to do this, the video itself, that 6 seconds was viewed of wasn't even recovered so in court it was not mentioned what this video contained.

anyway, I'm not here to actually moan about this although it's so upsetting and destroying. My main question is social services.

my children have been subject to CPP since they were born, nearly 5yrs. What is going to happen now, the social worker didn't have any answers for us this week in our meeting, will they step our CPP down now that they know the actual 'risk' he could pose, we remained on CPP because they couldn't do a risk assessment as the charges were so unclear.

Will he be allowed back home? Ever?
even the judge said there is no good reason in their eyes that we couldn't live a normal life as a family.

sorry this is a long one, I've probably missed loads but appreciate any advice on SS going forward.

I asked for a reassessment after sentencing to the CPP could be reviewed. The one that was in place was not in line with the SHPO. SS have amended it to bring it in line after speaking to Police and Probation service.

It was worth doing as means kids can see their dad at home - which is what they wanted all along.

He cannot move back in yet (I don't want that). I have agreed to inform them if there are any changes in circumstance, such as moving home, moving area, or we decide to try and live as a family again.

As for the media - I get your pain there. It wasn't even official press but a website that outs offenders that shared the conviction. About 80% of what was in the article was incorrect or irrelvant - I think it was fed to them by a "Friend". But the picture it painted was horrific and the damage devastating - not many people will listen to my truth now as the "facts" are out there. This is pretty raw for me too. I have been told it will die down - people will move on to the next bit of gossip....I hope that's right....!
