Not allowed contact

Husband was sentenced this week. Social services have come back again and said that husband can't have any contact with our child until assessments have been done.
is this normal? If so surely they can't keep him away from his child with no contact at all, even on the phone he's not allowed right now. I don't know if it's normal at this stage to re assess the risk now he's convicted but he's been allowed home since bail ended a year ago with safety plan.
Husband is already struggling since sentencing as the judge was so harsh and now this, just so confused :(

I'm so sorry you're having to face this on top of everything else. I've read your post a couple of times but didn’t reply before because, honestly, I didn’t feel I had any real answers to give you. This evening though, I felt I couldn’t just scroll past without saying something.
Without knowing all of the details, it’s difficult to say exactly why social services have stated they need to carry out assessments before contact can be reconsidered. Is there something within the SHPO that specifies no contact unless agreed by social services? If that’s the case, then they will likely need to complete the required assessments before any agreement can be given.
Social services will almost certainly have been informed of the outcome of your OH’s sentencing, which may have triggered a new referral or reopened previous involvement. If that’s what has happened, then the positive side is that you should hopefully hear from them soon regarding the assessment process and what the next steps will be.
I know waiting and not having clear answers is incredibly difficult, especially when emotions are already running high. Hopefully once social services explain the process to you, you’ll at least have a clearer understanding of where things stand and what needs to happen moving forward.
Thinking of you and really hoping you get some answers and support soon.
