Hi, I'm new to this forum and has taken me 15 months to build up the courage. It's been an awful year. We got the knock 15 months ago. Was completely shocked and felt my world had ended. I have a daughter too. My partner was already on his way to work so the police drove there to arrest him. I haven't seen him since. We weren't married and I told the police I didn't want to see him again in order to protect my daughter. He's been on bail for 15 months the and the police have told me they have gathered their evidence and it's been sent to cps. They said they feel like the cps wouldn't have a problem with charging him. How long have you all had to wait from evidence going to cps till charging. I'm petrified about this all coming out in the press. So sorry for the long post. Strugglied massively since the knock and my mental health has suffered massively. Thank you for reading.

I think it is a bit of a lottery and depends on where you live. We were less than a year from arret to prison but I've heard of people waiting much much longer.

It is a sentence hanging over our heads - but you will get though this i promise. Take care.

Thank you so much for your reply. It's just a nightmare that never ends. Only my immediate family know what's happened in order to protect my daughter. I own a house with this person and the uncertainty etc is just too much sometimes. I've no idea what his address is etc. I don't want to know but obviously going forward o may need to know for letters etc if a solicitor needs to get involved in the future.. going to get some legal advice as I don't work and to be made to sell the house would leave me in a really bad position.

Hi . Thank for posting and sharing your story .

my heart breaks for everyone on here and you are amazing ans very strong .

Our families knock came March 2025 , the file was passed to CPS in December 2025 and last Thursday my ex received his plea hearing for 17 June 2026 .

the waiting did my head in but now we have a court date it's knocked me for six and dragged it all back up again .

Good luck x

From it going to CPS to plea hearing was about 3 months. It was a few days before his bail was going to be extended. August it went to CPS in January was final sentence court date (christmas extended it to january)

CPS to charges was about 3 months for us too. It was horrible but at least at this point I had an idea of which path we were headed down and what the next steps would look like. I told a select few close family members that I'd been keeping it from shortly before the plea date. I know it's risky telling others but I had to balance that out over the chance it'd be made public and I wanted them to hear it first hand and with the full story from me. Plea to sentencing was about 6 weeks and we were lucky it didn't get postponed. It hit the press at plea (but not sentencing) and family did spot the online article so it turns out my pre-emptive sharing was wise. Very hard to do but for the best in our situation. The wait for devices and charges are the worst part-so much uncertainty and no idea of timescales plus you're still dealing with the shock and potentially social services. Stressful just doesn't cover it. Sending you strength and calm.
