Breach - new bank card

Good evening,
My ex got a new bank card in January. He didn't realise he had to tell them as its a new card for the same account.
He was recently looking through paperwork to find the sign on date as he moved address last year and this changed the date. Mosovo visited him and mentioned the card, he was honest and said he didnt think he had to notify for that.
He went to the police station the same day after they'd left and notified.
They've now invited him for a voluntary interview?
This was a genuine mistake/oversight.
Should he be worried? What's the likely outcome?

I'm sorry, I've not been in this situation but it is one of my fears, accidental beaches. I really hope it works out OK, sorry I can't help
Really depends on the attitude of the police. They have discretion in how to handle these things and should just give him a warning or a worst a caution, because the rules around new debit cards are fairly obscure.
In the rare event that it goes to court, there are different levels of breach and this would be at the low end, so at worst possibly a fine.

That's so confusing because we were laughed at when we notified them of a new card, and they said unless it was a new account we didn't need to notify them!
