Going on a summer cruise

My husband has been to court this week and has pleaded guilty for accessing and downloading indecent images. He is awaiting his sentence.

I've worked through alot to be able to say that without shouting and screaming at him and everyone else.

We've been trying to move forward and think a holiday will help. However, we've booked and paid for a cruise, which was done before he went to court. Will he be able to go? We've even advised that he might not be allowed on the ship.

Everyone knows we're going on a cruise and (obviously) no one knows our situation.

Has anyone had this experience? We're going in a couple of weeks. I'm tempted to go without him, but I don't think that would help our marriage.

What do we say if we don't get on the ship, what do we say to friends and family?

Is this the end of cruise holiday's?

It all depends what the companies terms and conditions are. You should be able to find them online. Many say they do not "knowingly" allow people on the SOR.

Keep in mind that if you tell his police offender manager or probation about your holiday, they might inform the cruise operator.

Hi Jane Doe

We had a similar situation, husband had plea hearing 5 years ago and was immediately ordered to sign SOR the same day. One month later he received sentencing. We did have x 3 cruises booked that year and went ahead without any complications. We had a further x2 cruises booked for the following year. It was only when I read the forum and someone had listed the cruise company we use had just updated T&C's and SO's were no longer allowed passage. I am totally upfront and honest as we had done many cruises I never thought of checking the T&C's. I became apprehensive that the police could potentially inform the cruise company and decided to call them myself and explain our situation. I was terrified if they became aware we were breaching the T&C's we would receive a life long ban. They were fabulous in ensuring I received a full refund but advised my husbands name would be flagged and he would not be allowed passage until he came off the register ((5 years to go) after which they would allow him to travel and also the police would have to verify he is no longer a risk. I know this is harsh and I absolutely desperately miss my cruises but peace of mind is better until we can cruise again. On a positive note, there are river cruise companies who when checking do not have any restrictions for SO's and there are also one or 2 adult only ocean cruise companies who have the same T&C's. If you want to private message me I can give you those names.
Best wishes

Check the t&cs if there isnt anything specific there you should be okay.

I went on a cruise without my husband, i just didnt want the head ache that comes with it all as at the time he wasnt allow unsuperviser around under 18s. I just talked to him when I was on land. It did upset him as we spent christmas apart and he had just suddenly lost his dad so it was his first christmas without me for years and had his mum in tears the whole day. Do I regret it? Nope. I had a lovely time. I needed that holiday!
