I don't know how to feel about my son

I don't know where to start, how to think and how to feel ???? ????
How could he do this and why??? My son received viewed and passed on images ????????????
My 21 son was arrested yesterday and released on bail with strict conditions, as he doesn't live with me, I'm not yet sure what those conditions are other than he cannot be unsupervised with u18s or reside at address where u18s live.
I'm shocked devastated and just feel guilty and to blame even though I am not responsible for his actions. ????????
Anybody able to explain what happens next who have been or are in a similar situation ????????????????????????

Hello, sorry you find yourself here, there are many of us in the same boat sadly. It is such an impossible situation to get your head around. Have you called the helpline? If not I'd really recommend it. You're not alone x
Hi Talou
There really is no right or wrong way to feel. How you feel today may be completely different from how you feel tomorrow, or next week, or even in the next hour. Everything you’re experiencing is a normal response to something deeply shocking.
Yes, what your son has done is terrible, but he is still far more than the worst decision or darkest moment of his life. People are complex, and one catastrophic mistake does not erase every other part of who he is.
From here, things move into a very procedural stage. The police will carry out their investigation, which includes a full search of his devices. Unfortunately, this part often takes a long time because digital forensics teams are dealing with huge backlogs. It’s slow, but it’s standard.
Once the device examinations are complete, if the police believe there is sufficient evidence, they will pass the case to the CPS. The CPS then reviews everything and decides whether charges should be brought and, if so, what those charges should be.
You’re in an incredibly difficult place right now, but please know that you're not alone. There are many Mums on here who have either been though or are going through similar experiences and who know the pain, fear and confusion that comes with it.
