SS risk assessment

My two young children have been on a CPP for 3 months and about to have a review. I'm feeling pretty distraught as I felt the SW was making comments that we may be downgraded, however the SW report recommends keeping the CPP, and that my ability to safeguard needs to be risk assessed.

I felt I had made it clear that I am being vigilant, always supervising, but I feel that because I have chosen to stay with my partner, we will never be free of this.

My SW hasn't mentioned a need to further risk assess me until I got the pre-review report through - and we've had a one to one meeting where she didn't really ask me any questions about this. I've also said at each core meeting that I am keen to engage with anything they recommend (at the initial conference they recommended that I have therapy with Lucy Faithful, but it doesn't look like such therapy for partners is a thing). The recommendation for extension of the CPP has come as a kick in the face.

I'm wondering what tools SS use to risk assess a partner? I don't know how to make it clear to them that I am keeping my children safe, adhering to the bail conditions, observing all the time, all while staying with my partner. I feel I'm being punished for trying to keep my family together.

I was in the same position on a CPP and the SW made it clear in core groups that this can be stepped down to Child In Need. Come to the review three months later and the CPP remained in place. I get the impression that she had a bit of a kicking from managament - its quite clear that they will never step down after three months as it raises questions on why the CPP was put in place in the first place.

My OH was supposed to have an assessment with Lucy Faithful- LA wouldnt fund it so they put the onus on probation to assess risk. My OH was having a difficult time with probation and wouldn't budge their risk stance.

The LA ended up taking us through PLO to fund a specialist risk assessment- its absolutley outrageous.

As the non offending parent you get zero support from anybody - SS wont offer any support, they just want you to carry on supervising contact with their unnanounced visits so they can run back to management if they see any slight of a breach.

I am out the other side of it now but the involvement of SS still haunts me xx

I could have written this myself quiet honestly. Ive been through very similar.

Just do you know, you have to do at least 1 review of a CPP with the chair before you can come off of a CPP. So most people are on a CPP for nearly a year.

I have a protective parent assessment via LFF which SS paid for and my husband had a risk assessment to assess his risk to our daughter done via LFF not SS but funded via SS. They wanted to know how likely he was to rape our daughter because that was their biggest concern.

I like you have alwags cooperated with them but even at my protective parent assessment one of their concerns was I didnt understand his conviction (despite going over and explaining it it by this point every 10 days for 5 months). I felt like a broken record and im going to need therapy to fix what SS have done to me.

You can get therapy via StopSO as a partner. Its not free but you can have it. Im going to be doing therapy in the near future with them and couple counceling
