NFA but went to court?!?

I really need to understand the legal process.

For context, my dad had "the knock" everything seized, arrested and bailed. He took an overdose but survived. Forensics found nothing, he says he was out of his mind saying anything (he's terminally ill and had a severe illness at the time) and basically saying he was coerced...

After the NFA letter, I thought ok that's done we don't have to worry about it looming over us - Now to deal with the aftermath and impact on the family.

He then tells me that he went to court in June. Why would he be summoned to court if it's NFA? I said what were the charges, he said there was none.
I just don't understand. I don't believe him, but this process - what's the truth? I've been on public records and found that there was a hearing but nothing else available in the public domain.

Does anyone relate to this?

I didn't personally, but my brother did and we are close. Like, he wouldn't lie etc. I live away so haven't been able to have the opportunity to see it.

It's down to the discretion of the police. My OH had NFA but the police presented to the CPS with what evidence they did have- a conversation. He ended up being charged with Obscene Publications and put under probation for 15 months with RAR days to complete

Thanks guys for your responses.

Sounds like he pled guilty at his arrest. Had a court hearing which I assume is sentencing. The outcome is that his tech will be monitored and there will be some restrictions in being around children.
He's telling so many lies. Think I'll give the bill a call and see if anyone can advise without going into details of his case. I mean, I have kids and no one has contacted me!

It sounds like he has been given an SHPO so yes you need to know the details if you have children under 18 and if he sees them on a regular basis.
