Hi all

My partner and father to our now nearly 2 year old was arrested in Sep 2025 for possession of IIOC. Currently bailed until March 2027, still awaiting devices to be checked.

He is living outside of our home, our son is on a CIN plan and I am allowed to supervise contact between my partner and our son, authorised through SS.

We found out we are expecting our second in March, which was a complete shock as we have struggled with fertility issues previously. We both very much want and love this baby already despite the circumstances.

I understand the timing isn't great and I feel so guilty alongside feeling very grateful. I am so scared for how this is viewed from SS perspective, and what this will mean for the future. My children's safety and wellbeing is my number 1 priority and always will be.

I am particularly concerned with how SS will intervene if our second child is the opposite gender. My assessing social worker, when they first became involved, made a comment about it being a 'good job' our child was male rather than female, and at my recent midwife appointment she had mentioned that a previous case she had been involved with included SS allowing no contact at all between the offender and the newborn if they were female rather than male.

I understand each case has differing factors and risk levels, I am just completely scared and unsure where to look for a sounding board.

I have asked my social workwr what the plan might look like going forward and she said she was reluctant to discuss details at this stage as she didn't want to 'stress me out', which has inevitably stressed me out.

Maybe just looking to see if any others have been through something similar and can share the outcomes?
