I got the knock two weeks ago, I'm still in complete shock and my world has been torn apart. My husband was released on bail while devices at checked, which I now realise can go on for a really long time.

Bail restrictions say 'no unsupervised contact with a child under 18, contact must be approved by SS'

The bit that's killing me is my son doesn't understand, he had such a close relationship with his father and is now asking and crying where he is. SS have set a safety plan but haven't finished the assessment yet, they have currently set it to no contact for the time being but video call is allowed. Did anyone get this too, was supervised contact allowed and how long did this take. Any shared experiences of the start of how this all went would be great.

Hi, it took us 3 weeks before my children could see their dad. Thankfully SS then allowed myself and family to supervise contact. We're pretty used to the new normal as things stand. Sending you lots of hope and courage for the time ahead. It's not easy but you'll work through it.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply, did you get involved in the 3 weeks asking for supervisors to be approved etc. , or did you just let them do their thing and wait it out? I don't want to push but also want to know how to get some sort of normailty for the kids soon

Pushing, politely but assertively, is often necessary. Make sure to do it by email so you have it in writing.

Social services have their own rules. We are currently on a 'no contact' recommendation following the unnecessary re arrest of my OH in July. Bail was set again for supervised contact (no overnight stays) but SS were not happy with this because for 5 months my OHs bail was lifted and he was able to stay over at the family home. At the moment I am having to co operate with their unreasonable requests while they finalise their 'safety plan'. I have pushed back with some of their further enquiries as they are not a legal recommendation but SS doing what SS does. Making it really difficult for everyone, especially the people who are innocent.
