Hi, my son has been found guilty of communication with a minor online (Police sting). He needs to go back for sentencing. He says no photos were shared and he only responded to suggestive messages allegedly playing along with the decoy. Does anyone in a similar position have an idea of the likely sentencing?
I'm also concerned there is more to the case than my son is telling me. Without attending court is there a way to find out full details of the reasons for the conviction?

I don't think there is a set sentence. It depends on the pre sentencing report, previous convictions, signs of remorse, how the judge feels on the day. It could be anything from a community order, suspended sentence to prison.
I think you'd need to attend court to hear the full details, or read them in the paper like I did.
