Are we able to request a change of chair at child protection conferences? Had ICPC the other day and it was absolutely horrendous. The chair dismissed everything my husband has done since arrest and sentencing and everything I had done to improve understanding about risk and signs etc, she said we're just ticking boxes to try and get this over with but that won't happen for a long time. She seemed unbothered the whole way through, that this whole thing was such an inconvenience to her. My husband had to walk about half way through due to being triggered with his ptsd and as he left she said something like oh this is him showing he still isn't taking accountability for what he has done, even though at every given point he has said that yes he doesn't have clear memory of what happened (in a crisis and drinking heavily) but he still takes responsibility and is doing everything he can. She said she doesn't believe that he doesn't have a clear memory of what happened and that he isn't being truthful even though he has had a psychiatric report that states his mental health conditions does cause no memory in crisis or something along those lines. My husband has taken accountability, completed safeguarding course, completed trauma therapy, having adhd assessments, medicated and managing mental health, starting the inform plus programme and continuing to comply with everything but that still doesn't seem good enough for her. The chair scored a 2 which I'm heart broken about and in the end I was sat there sobbing and she just casually started talking about other crap that meant nothing to the conference. Just before I left she said I need to prioritise my child, that I can't keep making 'excuses' for his behaviour... all I've ever done is protect my child and have only ever explained that his mental health played a part in all of this. Just before conference the social worker showed the assessment and originally scored 6 but felt she just followed the chairs lead and said a low number.

im just wondering if due to all of those reasons, we are able to request a new chair because I honestly don't feel like I can face that women again
