Lie detector test

My Dad was asked to do a lie detector test, which is pointless in my eyes because the results can't be used in court. He also has FND that causes tremors so can't see how it would be accurate.
The solicitor also couldn't give any advice because it's not covered by legal aid.
Anyone experienced this? Did it help or make things worse?

I am keen to know more about a lie detector test. I want to approach the subject with my OH as I am sick of lack of accountability and trickle truth, even after 19 months.
My husband was asked if he would do one but his solicitor advised against it and said he doesn't know why they even ask that.
