I very rarely come on here now as my person is 1 year post sentencing and we also aren't together anymore so dont feel the need. But the whole situation has damaged me mentally more than anyone could ever realise! I still cry when I think about how my life was before the knock!

But if I ever hear people talk about SO's I feel so triggered like all the memories of that time come flooding back. Today I'm hearing about the police officer in the north east who's been arrested and all I can think about is how sorry I feel for his wife and child and what that poor lady must be going through right now. I feel incredibly lucky my person's conviction didn't end up in the media, i honestly dont know how I'd of coped.

Every time someone knocks on my door, we are triggered. My poor kids are a nervous wreck. There are so many cases now of this nature, I feel for every family going through this. It forever changes you. I want to happy again, I want my kids to be happy again and all the uncertainty to go away.
We are 19 months in from the first knock. The police decided rather than invite my OH (we are currently separated and he is living at his bail address) for his 2nd interview, to rearrest him but knock at our home address. My children are retraumatised all over again.
I am genuinely hoping that it is not in the media when it goes to court. We have already been through so much as a family.

There was an incident in a neighboring town earlier in the year - huge crowds gathered saying for his blood. My thoughts were for his family and that those folk shouting abuse have no thought fir his family. Plus they were bayng for blood but little do they know that even if they ran this person out of town (which they did) they don't realize the numbers involved- and likelihood is there would be others in the town, street, work or even in their own families.

I hate seeing these stories in social media.

Anxiousgirl, that's horrendous. How did they find out about the persons presence?
I have seen similar happen recently in social media and think about the distress caused to any children or anyone vulnerable in the house or neighbouring properties. It feels it's more of a stunt move than care for children. And yes they are very ignorant to the fact they probably encounter or live near other offenders! It stresses me out immensely.

This resonates with me. We're not together any longer but are still in contact. Anything I see on tv regarding these types of offences just brings it to the forefront of my mind. Then I wonder if when people who know of my situation hear things then think of me. They probably don't or maybe just fleetingly.

I also feel myself becoming resentful when people talk about doing things with their partners and seemingly having a lovely time. I know this isn't always the case but it feels like it.

I am lucky in a lot of ways but I miss my old life and I do miss what we had together.

I am three years past the event and my person has just finished his 18 month suspended sentence. I find myself becoming more cross than I was in the beginning. Like I said though I have a lot to be thankful for and do try to see the best in life x
