Has anyone got any experience of social services speaking to older children? My daughter is desperately upset because social services have contacted her and may want to speak to her boys aged 11 and 16 it's their grandad who is the offender. We don't even live in the same town, they never stayed with us. And they certainly won't now, as I'm pretty sure this is the last straw for my daughter, I don't think she'll speak to him again.

Does anyone know what they actually say, and if or how they describe the offence

Thank you. I'm a bit confused as I thought the children would only be spoken to directly if the offender lived in the household like in your case. I had hoped that perhaps they would just speak to my daughter about how often they see him etc. Which will now be never or not for an extremely long time as my daughter is furious to be in this situation and I don't blame her.

From being initially supportive they've now all had time to think and want to distance themselves which I understand completely. I'm furious all over again with my husband because our children are hurting so much, and it's the total opposite of what parents are supposed to do. Not a good day today.

When social services visited my boys they were asked age appropriate questions such as - who do they spend time with? Who can they speak to if the have any concerns or problems, what do they do with Mum and Dad and so on. They were only spoken to once to gain the view of the children and the our case was closed.

Thanks for your replies everyone. S**t day today. My babies are hurting so much (even though they are adults) and that hurts me so much.
