If it ends up they are on SOR and if there is a SHPO (or if on SOR but no SHPO - does that happen??)

Will it always only be supervised contact with their children for the duration?

It can be sor without shpo. Supervision will be decided upon by SS and it can go any way at all.

Our son has signed the SOR and has an SHPO with just internet restrictions but was expected to stay with only supervised contact and no overnight stays with his children by SS. He abided by this for 6 months and then asked for unsupervised which he has just begun but only in the community and there are some 'rules' to follow eg if he takes them out in the car they have to always sit in the back which makes him feel a bit like an uber driver!!! Also his probation officer backed up his risk factor confirming he was low risk and she recommended it was in his children's interests to see him without his elderly parents (us!) always tagging along. He is now working towards requesting some unsupervised time at his home but won't ask for this for another 6 months or so. We took others' advice about going slowly and bit by bit so SS saw he was co-operating with them and accepting their caution. He also made a timeline showing the things he had done to work on himself eg therapy, LFF course etc and this went to the SW's manager as added back-up about his safety. We did feel that as well as the safety of his children this was all necessary so that SS could show what they had done if things went pearshaped later and he did something again, so he accepted that he had to just go along with them and be patient.
