Self-employment

It finally happened. My husband has lost his job because of the conviction. I knew it was coming. I've been dreading it for months.
I think the chances of him being employeed by anyone else now are slim to zero so self-employment is the only way forward.
We've got one idea that he can do with his limited mobility although it might only generate pennies if anything at all. Wondered if anyone elses' OH has had any success with going self-employed since conviction and if so, what did they do?
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders now having to pay for everything out of my salary. I'd been looking forward to an early retirement on the assumption OH would be working until 67 when the state pension kicks in but this wasn't to be. I need him to bring in some money into the household.
Thanks.

Hi there
This is my biggest concern (apart from court). I have 3 children, job loss and support is very real to me too. Unless my DH's case is not in the media or it is not disclosed to his employment (he does not work with children) then he might be lucky unless they perform regular DBS checks.
My DH has thought about self employment as well. How about a handy person or gardener? That seems to be popular these days. Sorry I can't be much more help. I hope you are OK x

Sorry just seen your limited mobility comment.
Jolo, just curious, how could someone on the register work as a handyperson or gardener when both involve entering private property?
If you know more information about jobs while on the SAR, maybe you could offer the OP some helpful advice on self employed roles?
