Is there much you can deternine from if they were bailed rather than chatged on the day of arrest. As in are they diamissing the initial images that led to the arrest but then looking for more? I am just a bit confused why some are charged at time of arrest and others are bailed only? Thank you.

My oh was finally charged 9 months after the initial arrest. He was bailed 3 times in total. I'd say they are investigating and checking devices for further evidence. X

Thank you very much - did they only charge him based on finding more stuff than the initial arrest stuff?

They charge on everything illegal they find either from the time of arrest or during the forensic investigaion. It is all lumped together.

My husband was also bailed 3 times and charged after 9 months. They were checking devices. In his case thankfully they didn't find anything more than what he was initially arrested for.

Thank you very much for all replies.

Of his arrest on the day he said what they arrested him for (close to 50 images) they had looked at on that day and told him those images ... "were actually not illegal which is why I wasn't charged with anything".

However, an extract I later saw of the police interview report from that day said those images had been looked at and "appeared to be known IIOC, ages around 16-17".

He is currently on 3rd time bail too whilst devices are examined, and I guess I am just trying to gauge what's true of what he said above, and what might happen in terms of liklihood of a charge - if, for instance, nothing further is found other than what the police wrote above?

In our case he was charged with communication (decoy,) which is what they arrested him for, and 2 images (cat b and cat c) found on his phone during investigation. X

I would be very cautious if he has told you those images 'weren't illegal'. A lot of men can tend minimise the severity of the crime. It doesn't mean they don't think it's wrong - it's more that they struggle to admit it.

I hope he is being honest with you xx

Thank you - it doesn't sound really as though he has been honest if they are classed as "Known IIOC" but I don't know if the (upper) ages have confused him?x

In my experience, my OH has continually minimised his behaviour and arrest to protect himself all through the investigation stage. My OH was bailed initially every 3 months up to 12 months when the magistrates lifted his bail restriction because of lack of evidence at the time. This was mainly because the one device they had had not been checked at this stage. By the time the investigation was over (2 July) he was rearrested and called back in for an interview as more evidence had been found. He is still in denial. All the while, I'm in therapy and protecting my 3 children the best I can from the fall out of this horrible offence.

In our case we had the knock on the thursday and charged by the friday it was his phone and 5 images found in a deleted cache folder, examination of the phone was extremely quick it was the only device they removed from the home, his mac was checked at time of the knock, he told me on the Thursday he had been on porn stupidly went on Kik searched porn a folder in a chat room he opened and revealed images he only seen one deleted the app and folder immediately and never looked at porn again, didnt think to report the situation just put it out his mind, we paid for a private examiner to show this had never been searched and required specialist equipment to retrieve the files.

He was still found guilty as never reported his findings to the police he was placed on the register for 12 months and a community payback order
