Hello,

I'm so sorry to be here and for all of us. I really hope the saying 'it gets worse before it gets better is true' .. because it has got worse. My nephew (young man approaching 30) was arrested back in May. Obviously everyone's world fell apart but we tried to get through it as best we could. He did a 5 part course with a similar charity and has been having some counselling though not specific to this issue - general mental health. But he didn't seem fully engaged, has still been occasionally self harming, but hasn't wanted to progress specialist therapy ... Then today the police made a bail visit, checked his new phone .. and there are some more images. What next? My nephew is still living at home with his dad and mum (my sister). They have tried talking to him before and since this second incident, and to open up but without much success. And we're also scared of saying the wrong thing in case the self harm escalates. My sister is getting some support from the different charities but really struggling and I want to support her and the family. I can't even process what my nephew has done - let alone him having continued to do. But he is a lovely young man (possibily undiagnosed neurodivergent) and I want to support him also. Feeling so many emotions, want to say or do the right thing, but I'm also struggling in my own way. It's so hard - I dont want to make things worse. So I hope it does get better somewhere along the line. Wishing everyone well x
