Cps asking for more information

So case was sent to cps three months ago and it's been rejected and they are now asking police for more information. What could this mean? You'd have thought after nearly two years the police would have sent all evidence as they can. Should we take this as a good sign for a possible NFA or is this just normal for most people and charges will get approved anyway with or without the additional information? Trying hard not to get our hopes up.
