Hello all, I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on what they did in this situation and how they explained it to their child. My ex was arrested a year and half ago for having indecent images all the way from cat C to A. He is on the register and surving a 2 year suspend sentence within the community. My son has not had contact with his dad apart from letters since it all happened as this was the most appropriate thing to do for us in terms of safeguarding. Unfortunately my ex did not take the charges against him seriously. I was told by the police that nothing would be realised in the media by them because of safeguarding concern for my son. However a thew days ago an article was released by a separate journalist stating everything that has happened with his face and name. The article has spread massively and people that know of him and us and have seen it. My concern is that now people are aware of what's happened my son my overhear things and find out exactly what his dad has done. I haven't been able to tell him exactly why his dad was arrested because it's not age appropriate, but my main worry is he is now going to hear it from someone else and be angry at me for not telling him.
Anyone else struggled with this ? I was not aware at all that the article was going to be released so it came as a shock considering it happened ages ago.
