So my partner was up for sentencing this week.

Social care have had it in for him from the start no matter what effort he's put in. He completed the LFF inform plus course out of pocket "thats you admitting your a danger", he's had supervised contact via social care since June they had just upped it to 2 hours and moved it into the community a few weeks back and allowed me to be a part of the last 3 sessions.

He had issues before we got together in 2018 (nothing of this nature) so we involved social ourself went through 18 months of assessments and courses for him to move in. We had a daughter in 2021 and again we involved social due to his past. 9 months of involvement signed off as low risk to children. Social care failed to give any of the previous rehabilitation he had put in to probation for his PSR but because he'd put a complaint in against how social were being with me, the kids and himself they went in hard with Probation and painted the absolute worst picture of him.

Sentencing comes, we get one of the strictest judges, he didnt care that we'd submitted report after report of his rehabilitation, the LFF course completion, my 5 years olds very complex needs, none of this mattered. He sentenced him to 18 months so he'll do 9! We have a baby due in December and social have said I cant have any contact with him or I risk loosing my children (a risk I'd never take) so I cant inform him babies here, I cant add him to her birth certificate or anything. In their eyes he won't see these kids until they're 18.

My daughters contact day with Dad was Friday, she's 5 but way behind so talking more like 3 mentally. I've told her daddy did a bad thing and he's getting help but she come out of school asking where she was going with daddy and I just broke down. I dont know how to get through the next 9 months while he's inside and nobody can check in with him, nobody knows about this besides me and now his nana and thankfully it didn't hit the media besides open court data.

Im just lost, I know hes done a terrible thing and I get punishment is needed but you see people, even police officers that have committed hands on offences and got away with suspended sentences. You see judges that have done way worse than he did and again suspended sentences. I wish there was more consistency with sentencing.

Anyone with a loved one who served time how did you get through it? When does it get easier? What do I do with my 5 year old? Do I keep repeating he's done a bad thing or what? My son is 17 and adamant on speaking to him and visiting him obviously social won't allow this but he's going when he turns 18 as they cant stop him in his words. Im just hurting so bad and I know he will be too being separated from his child and isolated with only his nana for contact at the moment.

Any help, suggestions, advice is welcome!
