Schools closing - dilemma
Notifications OFF
So I have a dilemma. I have to keep working until my bosses tell me otherwise, the kids are now off school from next week until goodness knows when. Their dad (convicted of image offences) is unemployed and living with his parents. He wants to move back here temporarily and look after the kids during this crazy time but is supposed to be supervised with them. It would be the perfect solution but I just don't know whether we will get in huge trouble. I should add that we don't currently have a social worker and our case was closed over a year ago.
please help - is anyone else facing a similar dilemma?

Do they have a sexual prevention order and or on the register? They will have stipulated conditions that might state whether he is able to look after them unsupervised. I would personally check with SS or their probation officer (if they have one) to make sure.
He has to inform probation if he spends longer than 12 hours in the same residence as anyone under 18 but there is nothing in his order saying he cannot be unsupervised with his own children.
I would ask the probation officer to clarify the terms because my partner SPO has similar wording and was told it applies to his children despite not saying so in black and white. The conditions seem very standard and copy and paste.
Hi Stitch
If SS closed your case on the basis that he would be supervised with your children then I think you would be taking a risk if you left them alone with him. SS may never know but if they did find out somehow I’m not sure what would happen. I would have thought they would reopen your case maybe?
My husbands SHPO also has the same wording and, when me and our son moved back home, he checked with probation if he would need to inform the police and he was told that he didn’t need to.
I don’t think the requirement for being supervised with their own children necessarily always comes from the SHPO but rather directly from SS.
As majestictopaz has said, it would be best to check with either probation or SS.
