My husband is waiting for his plea hearing at crown court and so far his bill is £5700 with solicitors fees, court fees and psychological report, this is the amount if he pleads guilty, if he pleads not guilty to one of the charges(which he's been advised to do by his solicitor) it is going to incur more costs depending on how long a trial would be, the solicitor said they can arrange a payment plan but his email today states they want full payment before sentencing! Luckily he is still in employment but if the media get hold of this I'm sure he will lose his job, what I want to know though is if he goes to prison how do we pay? I can't afford it and I'll lose my house anyway if he loses his job?

I'm not sure how it works where you are JB72. If your husband is likely to lose his job Legal aid will cover it. My husband was a nurse so it was certain he would lose his job. Also, with my husband he had a fine he couldnt pay as he was in prison. He was sentenced to an extra week which "paid" the fine. I hope that helps. X
