Hello
Not that I am in anyway ready or in the position to have a baby, but when the time comes maybe in 4/5 years or so (and I'm not sure how long my dad is on the register for) but if I did want to have a baby, would I have to advise anyone that I'm pregnant and would my dad be able to have contact with the baby without social services or anything like that? This is a thought that I've had for a long while. Also on behalf of my brother as his been with his fiancé for a while and they would be likely to have a baby soon as they've been together a long time.

Hi evie
Don't know if it helps, we already have grandchildren and social services did contact and visit them. Sadly they had to draw up a safety plan around the relationship with my husband, their grandad. If your dad is still on the register when you have children something will probably happen, even if it's just a visit.

Hi Evie, during your first appointment with the midwife they do a questionnaire. It includes the questions "do you or have you taken drugs, are you are the father related, is anyone on the register". If he is on the register the midwife may contact social services. Your father would have to alert his PO. From there a plan may have to be drawn up it could be that he is minimal risk and is just a flying visit from social work. X
