Hi just looking to see what your partners received in regards to sentencing, jail time etc how long on register, we're still awaiting trial so I'm not sure what to expect

Hi!

We are waiting the same. He was (he says) circa. 20 images of the lowest category, and he is apparently looking at caution/community service and 1-3 years on register. I have a million question about this too, so hopefully we can find out soon.

I'm also in Scotland if that helps.

I'm looking to find out about SHPO too, as I don't know if will get one of these as well being put on SOR, I'm afraid I'm almost in the same boat as you! I don't know if it even differs per local authority..who knows :(! X

Ah ok. Does it last the same amount of time as the time on the SOR or is it minimum 5 years?

Sorry for hijacking your post!

hi

i am in scotland. my son is in prison. he was put on the register but did not get a shopo . his solicitor said early on that he would not get this as there is quite strict criteria for being put on it. here it seems anyone who has been convicted of images gets a shopo but communication dont seem to get them. i have no idea though whether this could change when he comes home. i would have thought the shopo would have been given at his sentencing but you can never be sure with the law. x

As per i know SHPO is for additional restrictions on top of SOR. It includes restrictions specific to the offense like no use of internet, no visits to park/church etc, No unsurvised access to children below 18.

If it helps, I just found out that my partner isn't likely to get a shopo which is good news I guess! He is looking at time on the register but not a shopo because it was a few indecent images of the least serious kind.

Hope this helps! X

Hi

Sorry to jump on the post, but my brother has been charged with IIOC and everything I google seems to relate to the English process rather than Scottish. The images are cat A, B and C.

I'm very scared for his safety and can't find out anything about the process that we are about to start.

E.S, whether its 1 image or 1000 he will go onto the register. The difficulty on an estimate of what sentence he may get depends on the area. In one region it can be Community Payback whilst another could be 9 months in prison.

My husbands SHPO for communication is very restrictive, a lot more than some I've seen for IIOC. It really does depend on the area I think, there doesn't seem to be much consistency.
