So we have received court date and charges today, he is being charged with making of all 3 categories. I now can't stop thinking whats next, is prison likely, will it get in the local papers, is everyone going to find out, so far we haven't felt anybody else needed to know.

Court is in August so more than likely lockdown will be over and journalists will be there, I just don't know what I will do if it gets out.

Will he have to tell his work if he gets a suspended sentence?

So many questions.....

Thank you for any help or advice.

My partner had the same charges and was sentenced in aug after pleading guilty. If it is a suspended sentence your partner may have to do community service as well. My partner did not have to tell his work but he had to see his probation officer once a week and can be tricky to balance that with work but they try to not be too restrictive.

If suspended sentence he will also need to register with his local police station within three days.

Thank you for your replies, I have checked his contract and can't find anything to say he has to declare any convictions.

MajesticTopaz15 I'm presuming your partner got a suspended sentence? Was any journalists present in court? How are two now, is life back to normal (ignoring current circumstances)

Media presence is hit and miss. But there was no press and he never had any media attention. Typically they seem to be more focused on contact offences. Since the sentence is suspended it means my partner needs to have weekly meetings with his probation officer, now reduced to every other week (over the phone at the moment).

The restrictions are manageable. We can have spot checks but we get a heads up. My partner can't delete files or hide internet history. He has to let the police know about all ofiof his devices. Since he has been co operative with the authorities and been through rehabilitation he isn't a high concern to them.

Main life restrictions is the impact on work, my partner did struggle at first, travel and being around children. He hasn't got access to his kids (working on getting an agreement through family courts ATM). Travel could be worse, we have to let the police only where we are going and quite a lot of destinations have restrictions.

Our lives have got a bit better since sentencing because we know what is expected now. As long as he doesn't slip up he will have the offence of his record in 6 years (I think) but has to be on the register for ten years. Tbh I was prepared for him to go to prison. I had faith in the judge to make a fair decision. His life was turned upside down but he has got so much help that I believe he won't be sucked into sex offence crimes. But he knows it is his last chance.
