Housing and SOR

I think this might have come up before but I can't find it. We are in housing association property and have found someone we could swap with as a mutual exchange. Will my husband being on the register be grounds to refuse us a move? I'm also worried about if our own housing association could evict us because he's on the register now. Does anyone know if there's laws about that or if housing associations can have their own rules on it?
Any help much appreciated x

Hi Ann,
As far as I am aware, your husband's offender manager and probation officer would look to see if the new property was suitable. They would look at the area it's in to make sure it's not near schools and parks, or areas that children congregate. My partner was told he mustn't move to anywhere line of sight. I'm not sure what would happen regarding your current tenantcy.

Housing associations can refuse the swap. Before going into rented accommodation the area must be checked. There cannot be vulnerable adults or children (such as foster chikdren) also there cannot be another registered offender nearby. The police check along with the HA. It can be such a disappointment, we had several offers that failed an environmental scan before we moved. The HA will NOT discriminate against him being on the register. They just need to know for suitable placement for his safety more than anything.
