I hope and pray they see sense and stop using the evidence provided by these (in my opinion) sick sensation seekers. The idea that our legal system could condone this is awful. It ruins lives, not just of offenders who need help, but their families who are cast aside as collateral damage. Let's hope they see sense and legislate to stop this.

That sounds a nightmare experience lee1969. How is live streaming online for everyone to see helping in the process of catching criminals, just to cause heartbreak and as well as putting the person and their family at risk. It’s like they want the praise look what I’ve done.

I’d love to know what they say and how they entice people, same with the police I know they’ll have the correct legal procedures but what exactly do they say, presume they can’t send a picture of the underage child they’re supposed to be to the person they’re speaking to online because they’re pretending to be someone that they’re not too.

Grindr is an app for gay men, many people use it for casual sex. You have to declare you're over 18 to use it. I struggle to see how reasonable doubt can be met, when an adult declares they are over 18, goes onto an dating app - and then later declares they are 13 - when in fact they are an adult. Of course any adult should stop talking to someone if they declare they are underage. However, even if it really was a child, they are likely to be exposed to inappropriate conversations and photos before the adult learns their true age - so I struggle with the proportionality of such cases. An app designed for adults doesn't really seem to be the most logical place for someone looking to find somone underage.

I do wonder if their actions are actually encouraging people who may not have had such thought about children in the first place though. Which in turn may put real children at risk.

What irritates me is these "hunters" (I could change the first letter to make it a more appropriate name for them) are interfering with police work. There could be a very dangerous predator who's case is dismissed due to their awful work.

They ruin families luring men in, they remain safe without charges even though they are posing as a child. Many sent innocent photographs of children they are claiming to be. This child is someone, in the hands of the wrong person they ate putting this child at risk. With Google reverse imaging it's easy to trace where a photo came from. It could traced to a social media account, a home address found. Its insanely dangerous. The world is a cruel place, vigilantes need stopped quickly.

Whilst searching for an update on this, Facebook of

Wolf Pack Hunters UK Improved popped up as they were complaining that this may bring about the end of hunting! I looked at previous post, I couldn't help myself even though I knew I'd be upset, and on 2 June, during lockdown, they comforted someone in his own home and filmed it!!!!! I didn't watch the video, as that's a real person with a real family. Now tell me, how did they get I for the house, what lies or force did they use? And how can it be allowed during lockdown?!!! This has GOT TO STOP!!

That's unbelievable Lee1969!!! If we can find all these things that show these groups in a questionable light, what aren't police doing something about it??? Withholding evidence, not reporting crimes, endangering children.......I despair.
The way this online crime is handled throughout needs a thorough review, not just vigilantes. x

Zack, I agree with you! We need to make the sites responsible too. Why is it ok to have 'children' access adults sites? A lot of adults enjoy role play, and it would be considered healthy within a relationship. So when people get caught up in casual sexual relationships, and they want to make them even more exciting when they get caught in their addiction, role play would seem very appealing I imagine. So go on an adult forum and 'play'!!!!!
Thinking about this actually scrambles my brain. But it also breaks my heart. My husband, yes MY husband who I thought was loyal to me, caught up in this seedy, wicked and addictive world.

Cambridgeshire on line

Detectives believe "paedophile hunters" could be sitting on evidence of child sexual abuse and fear a surge in vigilante action as Covid-19 lockdown measures are lifted.

The groups could be sitting on about 160 cases, it is feared.

There are thought to be around 90 named groups active in the UK, carrying out more than 100 undercover sting operations a month before restriction of movement rules were introduced at the end of March.

Assistant Chief Constable Dan Vajzovic said the "vast majority" involve "real-world" action, where suspects are confronted, and the encounters often filmed and posted online.

But during the first month of the coronavirus lockdown just 16 incidents were recorded, with 15 of those limited to "e-activism", where evidence gathered in chat logs is passed to police.

Mr Vajzovic, the National Police Chiefs' Council's lead for online child sex exploitation activist groups, said so-called paedophile hunters were still active and may be sitting on about 160 cases.

as lee1969 said.......so how is this even possible that these people are allowed to hold onto their 'evidence'....surely if it was above board and children were at risk they would be breaking some law!!!
I'm horrified and even more convinced that these people 'trap' purely for entertainment.
My heart breaks for the families that will be destroyed by the many live-streams that will follow, and the backlog of cases for the police will mean many lives in miserable limbo. How can this be known about, and allowed to happen!!!!

I see that 15 July is judgment day for the Supreme Court Case. I do hope that this brings an end to this horrid activity. Surely if it's not, then this will open the gates to all sort of mob justice as Lost123 pointed out!

I have seen a few of these vigalante cases over the years on fb and whilst I do not condone what the person has done to be in this situation, I have always thought it is wrong the way they do it. The people that carry out these "stings" are not qualified to do so, they go in heavy handed, filming and making out it is "for their own protection and the persons" and exposing families and location to the general public via internet (and as we all know there are a lot of violent people out there, many waiting for a reason to kick off). I always think, surely this isn't the correct way to do it, if they have the 'evidence' and they want to do good then hand it over to the police and let them deal with it the correct way through legal channels! Don't video it then post it just to get plaudits and as for the fb trolls that comment, most of them are vile and get a kick out of insulting the families that get dragged on to the situation!! I have seen comments where people are insulting the family about their dress sense etc, like they are the fashion police

I'm so gutted. All I can now hope is that this may lead to some sort of debate. It seems that no one wants to stand against the vigilante. Let's watch how many more groups will now form....and how many peoples lives will be ruined. Mob rules.
