Dear forum users,

We thought it would be helpful to outline the features that have changed, and why we have changed them.

Firstly, we have given you the freedom to both edit and delete your own posts. We often get reports from users who are worried that they’ve put too much information in their posts, and are concerned that others (possibly close family members and friends) will be able to recognise them. Being able to edit and delete your own posts will mean you can make changes to your posts without asking and waiting for a moderator to do this for you.

Secondly, we now have the capacity to moderate a new user’s very first post before it goes live on the website. It is hoped that this will reduce spam, inappropriate content and posts from users who should not be using the forum. We also have the ability to put existing users under continued moderation; this means that if we are concerned by some of the content in a user’s posts, we can take the decision to start moderating their posts before they go live. We hope this will contribute to increased feelings of safety.

Another change we have made is to add a profanity filter. This means we have a catalogue of words that users will be unable to add to their posts, that we have deemed to be inappropriate and unnecessary for other users to see.

We are always very mindful that improvements can be made to our forum. Users are welcome to put forward their ideas and we will always take these into consideration. However, please remember that we are a charity and resources are restricted. This means that there will be functions within the forum that we are unable to change or that are not viable at this time. We also encourage users to be kind and to respect that some changes will give rise to technical glitches that will take time for us to explore and rectify, in order to allow for this essential and supportive service to continue.

If there are any specific technical glitches that you are experiencing, may I ask that you send a screenshot to contact@lucyfaithfull.org.uk so that we can explore this in more detail; it is much easier for us to rectify technical difficulties when we can see them.

Thank you,

Lucy
